When you work with MOHR Retail training programs, you’re also working with a dynamic team of consultants, designers, facilitators, and project managers, all of whom come from the world of retail.

Michael Patrick
Founder & President

Michael held positions in retail management, merchandising, and human resources before joining MOHR Retail’s predecessor in 1986. In 1990 he purchased the retail division of that firm to form today’s MOHR Retail.

Michael holds true to his retail roots by delivering learning that changes behavior—providing both immediate and lasting business impact. In addition to facilitating MOHR Retail training programs, he offers executive-level coaching in one-on-one sessions dealing with critical strategic issues such as succession strategies and executive team development.

The author of “The New Negotiation Mindset: Guarantee A Bigger Slice,” Michael is a longstanding member of NRF as well as ISA: The Association of Learning Providers. He has a B.A. from San Diego State University, completed Master’s level work at Arizona State University, and lives with his family in New Jersey.

Mary Beth Garcia
Vice President, Client Solutions

Mary Beth has worked with a variety of clients as a strategic learning partner, delivering leadership, communications, and retail programs for such companies as Advance Auto Parts, AMC Theatres, Belk Stores, Darden, Dollar Tree Stores, Family Dollar, Foot Locker, JC Penney, Pier 1 Imports, and Saks Department Store Group.

Prior to her consulting work, Mary Beth spent more than 20 years in retail management and operations for chains such as Macys, The Bombay Company, and Sunglass Hut International, holding numerous leadership positions in sales, store, district and regional management.

Based in Miami, FL, Mary Beth serves on the Executive Advisory Board for the University of Florida’s Retail Education and Research Department. She holds an A.A. Degree in Retail Management and Fashion Merchandising from Bauder College.

Jack Keenan
Vice President, Consulting and Sales

Jack has over 30 years of multiunit retail success and leadership, having held senior-level positions in merchandise management, corporate budget and capital management, and corporate education over the course of his career. He has consistently produced outstanding results, both in bottom-line improvement and in building teams and leaders who excel in today’s retail environment.

Jack’s experience working at such organizations as Hechinger’s, Rite Aid, Quality Farm Stores, and the Military Exchange System gives him a unique and diverse view of the nuances associated with retail segments. By sharing these everyday experiences of retail in the learning environment, he helps simplify retail’s complexities with straightforward, real-world discussions.

When he’s not working, Jack and his wife are touring somewhere on his Harley, which has taken them to every state and province in North America.

Laurel Moad
Vice President, Consulting and Sales

Laurel has over 25 years’ experience in retail multiunit senior leadership as a divisional vice president or regional vice president for retailers including L Brands, Kay Bee Toys, Laura Ashley, Eddie Bauer, and Gymboree. Throughout her retail career, she has led talent initiatives that have elevated talent selection, retention, and development across each organization.

In her role at MOHR Retail, Laurel serves as a strategic business partner to clients, providing talent strategy and talent development-related solutions that change behavior and measurably impact business results. Drawing on her strong retail experience and background, she has delivered leadership, communication, negotiation, and other retail solutions to companies such as Albertsons, Bebe, Claire’s, Disney Stores, Gymboree, Jewel/Osco, Oshkosh B’Gosh, PetsMart, and The Picture People.

In addition to her consulting work, she is a director on the board of the River Corridor Foundation of St. Charles, IL, a non-profit that supports and advocates for projects that will enhance the downtown riverfront environment as a destination for cultural, educational, and economic opportunities that are accessible for all. Laurel resides in a suburb of Chicago, IL.

Deborah Brown
National Director, Facilitation & Certification

Deb brings a deep level of store and district manager experience to every MOHR Retail training experience. She has facilitated programs for thousands of store, district, and regional managers as well as category managers, directors, planners, and supply chain departments across the country.

Deb has been the lead consultant on many nationwide implementations, including with clients such as TJX Companies, Academy + Sports, Decker/Ugg Australia, Steinmart, Burlington Coat Factory, Cabelas, and New Balance. With participant ratings consistently in the 96-98% range, Deb is in high demand and often asked to do additional sessions for clients. She lives with her family outside of Philadelphia, PA.

Toby Brown, PMP
Senior Consultant

Toby has 20+ years of experience delivering learning for companies around the globe. He recognizes that the best of managers focus on collaborative problem-solving along with focused coaching and mentoring relationships, and enjoys helping managers develop these key skills. He has worked with a wide variety of companies, including Compaq Computers, Hallmark Cards, Boeing, Capital One, Advance Auto Parts, and The Weather Channel. He has taught all throughout Europe and Asia.

Based in Denver, Toby’s other job is flying a hot air balloon for a ride company over Boulder, Colorado. In addition to training, he has flown advertising programs for Microsoft, The Weather Channel, HGTV, Food Network, and others.

Kathryn S. Wolfson
Director of Program Development & Quality

Kathryn has more than 30 years’ experience in retail industry training and course development. For clients such as Hermes, Estee Lauder, Toys R Us, MarMaxx, Polo Ralph Lauren, and New Balance Retail, she has trained in leadership, management, negotiation, technical, and operations skills. Her corporate experience includes Assistant Buyer and Training Coordinator for Rich’s (div. of Federated Stores) and Corporate Director of Training for Saks Fifth Avenue.

Kathryn develops and continually updates the MOHR Retail’s core programs as well as custom program modules. A graduate of Smith College, she lives in New York City and has taught in New York University’s continuing education program.

Steve Fassler
Instructional Design, Writer, Producer, & Director

Through engaging custom-designed videos, Steve brings to life the retail situations MOHR addresses each day. He is the founder of Ocean Beach Productions, was formerly a Technical Director for PBS television, and a Producer/Director for training and development firms internationally and within the aeronautics industry. Retail clients include Nike, Gap, Verizon Wireless, Christopher & Banks, New Balance, Academy + Sport, and many others.

An award-winning video producer, Steve also held a faculty position in Communication and Media at Northern Illinois University, where he received a Master of Arts degree in Communications.

Rachel Pedalino
Manager, Program Services
