“You get it!” was what this VP, Sales said after I summarized what I thought they needed and what we should do. This isn’t a rare event for us. More and more companies who come to our site and talk with us know that one of the most valuable benefits we bring is that we understand retail (and wholesale) businesses and we can instantly connect to their world.
In training, it all starts with relevance. If participants see that we understand their world and challenges they face daily they give us credit. They are more likely to pay attention which means they’ll more likely to learn and use what they learn back on the job. “You get it!” means that we can have a shortened, more productive conversation.
Unlike many other management consulting firms who dabble in retail (you guys know who you are) we are retailers. Our consultants and designers have the retail street cred that gets in the door and helps us solve more problems faster for retailers than anyone else.
